Q: HOW DO I TELL WHAT VOLTAGE THE COLORED WIRES ARE?
A: The
Multi-Matic transformer will have voltage output leads ranging from
12v-22v, depending on the size of the transformer. These are color
coded for ease of installation. You will find a label on the inside
lid of the transformer with a legend for each color.
Black................................12v
Brown...............................13v
Red..................................14v
Purple..............................15v
Blue.................................16v
Orange (Models 500/600)...17v
Orange (Models 840/1120).18v
Yellow..............................20v
Pink.................................22v
White..............................Common

Q: WHAT DO I DO WHEN THE
FUSE IS BLOWN?
A: Use an amp probe to verify amperage
does not exceed the rated capacity of the transformer. You can locate
this information on the label inside of the transformer.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: CAN I ADD A PHOTOCELL
TO AN EXISTING UNIQUE TRANSFORMER?
A: Yes. A photocell can be added to
an existing Unique transformer. We highly recommend that this is
done by a liscensed professional since the unit is added to the
line voltage portion of the transformer. Please be advised that
adding a photocell to a transformer does void the Lifetime Warranty.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: WHY HAVE THE WIRE NUTS
MELTED IN THE WIRING COMPARTMENT?
A: Loose connections cause arking which
creates high amperage and excessive heat, causing the wire nuts
to melt. Be sure to check for loose connections. Cut off any damaged
wire and securely reconnect with a new wire nut. The connection
must be tight. You should not be able to pull wires apart.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: WHAT SIZE AND TYPE OF
FUSE DOES MY TRANSFORMER REQUIRE?
A: Each transformer has a different
fuse size (360ss - 4 amp, 500ss - 5 amp, 600ss - 6 amp, 840ss -
8 amp, 1120ss - 10 amp). A label with the appropriate size legend
is located on the inside lid of the transformer. Always replace
a Unique transformer fuse with a Slow Blow type fuse.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: CAN I USE THE SAME VOLTAGE
TAP MORE THAN ONCE?
A: You may use the various voltage
taps as often as needed. Example: If you need to use the 15 volt
tap three times, simply connect all three cables to the 15 volt
tap. However, we do recommend that you limit the wattage on any
single tap to a maximum of 600 watts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: WHY DOES THE TRANSFORMER
TURN ON FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THEN TURN OFF?
A: Check the photocell. Cover the eye
with black electrical tape. If transformer will not turn on, or
if transformer turns off prior to timer off, replace photocell.
Check timer. Remove timer and plug cord directly into transformer.
Check primary fuse. If fuse is blown, check total bulb wattage.
If it exceeds 80% of transformers capacity, unit may be overloaded.
Always check with Amp probe.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: WHY ARE MY LIGHTS DIMM
AT THE END OF THE RUN?
A: The greater the distance between
the transformer and the fixture the greater the voltage drop. Follow
the 50 foot rule. No more than 50 feet between your first and last
fixture. This should minimize the voltage drop. The Equalizer Hub
method is the most effective in eliminating voltage drop.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: WHY DOES MY CIRCUIT BREAKER
KEEP TRIPPING?
A: Make sure that the circuit breaker
amperage is suitable for the transformer. At times, there might
be multiple appliances connected to the same breaker causing an
overload.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: IS MY UNIQUE TRANSFORMER
LEGAL?
A: Unique Lighting Systems has gone
through extensive testing to assure users all transformer are safe
and up to par with code and UL Standards. Unique transformers have
been ETL tested to meet UL Stadards. Please contact Unique Lighting
at 1-800-955-4831 for a complete report on ETL listings and approval.
